With over 45 percent of the Internet world using Google Chrome as their web browser, it’s high time everyone became aware of some amazing, FREE extensions that will make your experience of Google Chrome even better.
What’s An Extension?
A Google Chrome extension is a (usually free) download that you can get from the Chrome Web Store. Each extension is supposed to enhance your experience of using Google Chrome in a variety of different ways, such as, saving you time and money, adding entertainment, or even aiding your safety and health…literally (check out this free extension to see what we mean).
When extensions are added to your Google Chrome they are conveniently added to the top right of your browser ready to be clicked on for when you want to use them (although some extensions work passively, meaning you do not need to click on them for use).
The Chrome Web Store is super easy to use meaning that finding, browsing and downloading greet, free extensions takes barely any time at all.
To help you save even more time, here is my list (in no particular order) of top ten Google Chrome extensions you NEED to get!
Do you find ads annoying? You’re not alone. That’s why this is the most popular Google Chrome extension with over 40 million users enjoying fewer ads.
My favourite free extension of this list. Having Grammarly is like having Microsoft Word with you all the time on the web. It underlines any spelling, grammar or punctuation errors as you type and suggests corrections for you to choose.
A gem. This extension helps you to save money when shopping online by automatically adding the best coupons available from that website to give you the cheapest deal possible. All you have to do is click on it during checkout!
Isn’t having to remember loads of different passwords a pain? This extension lets you remember one password – your LastPass master password. If you save all your usernames and passwords to LastPass, and it will automatically login to your sites and sync your passwords everywhere you need them.
This extension is really helpful for those who want a really easy and convenient way to screenshot things when using the internet. All you have to do is click the extension, drag the area you’d like to screenshot and save it to your computer—easy!
Advertised as ‘the best way to view photos on Facebook’, and I agree. This extension will automatically expand a photo on Facebook so you can get a better view of it.
A great extension for those who use Evernote. This allows you to save things you see on the web into your Evernote account. A better way to bookmark!
This helpful extension lets you read, listen to or delete emails without opening Gmail, and is especially useful for those who’d like to check emails from multiple accounts in one go.
Like the idea of being able to scan your PC for malware, delete your browsing history, remove download history, erase temporary files, clear cookies and clear up space on your computer with just one click? If so, you’ll like this extension.
Not particularly useful but cool nonetheless. This extension enables you to experience a randomised, beautiful image from Google Earth every time you open a new tab. (Honesty time: sometimes I spend time just clicking ‘new tab’ just to see what part of the world I get shown!)
The Chrome Web Store is packed with other great, free extensions for Google Chrome and so, for whatever need you may have, there are likely some free extensions out there for you.
I hope you found this article useful and, as you hunt for more extensions, please let me know what great ones you find! Happy hunting!
